The recent spell of hot weather has left UK wildlife at risk of serious harm as temperatures soar.

In summer, animals and insects can suffer from dehydration and die if they can’t find shade or water. To help, people have been asked by environmentalists to leave out water in their garden.

However, one thing you should not do is add sugar to this water – as it can prove disastrous for bees.

According to GloucestershireLive, the bees that discover the sugar water are likely to go back to the hive and recruit more bees to come to the source of easy food. But this quick fix for the bees can be devastating for the hive.
